If you’re a big Major League Baseball fan, there’s a very high chance that one of the top things on your bucket list is to visit all 30 ballparks across North America. However, with all those baseball stadiums spread around 27 cities in the U.S. and one in Canada, an MLB ballpark tour might seem a little tough to plan, not to mention expensive, at first.
Lucky for you, we discovered the most efficient route to travel to every single MLB stadium. What’s even better is that we figured out how you can do it for less than $1,000! Through a combination of bus and train rides, as well as a few flights, we built an itinerary based on the shortest possible travel time between each city and the average lowest fare available for each route.
If you don’t feel like visiting all baseball stadiums in one trip, we’ve also broken them down in regions. That way, you can be a lot more flexible when it comes to both your schedule and your budget.
With summer coming up and the MLB season already underway, now is the perfect time to plan a tour of all baseball stadiums across the U.S. and Canada. There are 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in North America, scattered across 28 cities, with New York and Chicago being home to two stadiums each. However, as San Francisco and Oakland are extremely close to each other, we’ve combined them into a joint destination, bringing the total number of cities you need to visit to 27.
The majority of the trip is conducted by bus, allowing you to save hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on airfare. The prices listed in the graphic represent the average lowest price for a one-way bus, train or plane ticket for each of the featured routes available on Wanderu over a 30-day period.
Since these are the average lowest fares, they may not be available at all times, especially if you buy your tickets at the last minute. However, if you book the trips ahead of time, you will be able to score these and even lower deals.
Even if you don’t like to plan far in advance, you’ll still be in pretty good shape. Going just by the regular average fares for each route, your baseball stadium road trip will cost you just a little over $1,100.
There are various strategies you can employ to score cheap bus tickets and bring the total price tag for your baseball stadium tour further down. As long as you plan ahead, you will easily maintain your travel expenses to less than $1,000.
The itinerary includes five plane rides, connecting cities that are either too far to travel by ground or between which the average one-way airfare is cheaper than the average lowest price of a bus or train ticket.
As you can see, the trip is essentially a loop, allowing you to pick a different starting point that’s more convenient for you. If you choose to do that, make sure you look up a bus trip from Denver to Minneapolis / St. Paul or find a cheap flight for that route.
Below, we’ve broken down the trip into portions, bringing you the best way to visit all baseball stadiums by region. More importantly, keep reading to find out how you can book each one of these trips.

The starting point of our baseball stadium tour is Minneapolis, home of the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field. The best way to get from the Minneapolis area to Kansas City, MO is by hopping on a bus from neighboring St. Paul, MN. You do that and you’ll be on your way to the second stop of your ballpark tour, which is Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals.
From there, you proceed travel to six ballparks in the Midwest, including St. Louis’ Busch Stadium, Milwaukee’s Miller Park, Chicago’s Guaranteed Rate Field and Wrigley Field, Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park, and Detroit’s Comerica Park.
From Detroit, you’ll take a detour into Canada to say hi to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto, before returning to the U.S. for a visit of Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field.
The last stop on this tour is at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. Even though Pittsburgh is not technically in the Midwest, due to its proximity to the rest of the cities in the region, it made sense to include it in this portion of the trip to keep the total trip cost at minimum.
Once you’ve said hello to the Pittsburgh Pirates, head on over to Boston to continue your journey by exploring all the baseball stadiums on the East Coast.

The East Coast baseball stadium tour begins in Boston with the oldest MLB ballpark in the country, Fenway Park. From then on a series of short bus rides down south will take you to New York’s Citi Field and Yankee Stadium, followed by Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, Baltimore’s Oriole Park, and Washington, DC’s Nationals Park.
From the nation’s capital, you will go on a longer, but quite cheap, bus ride to Atlanta to check out the Atlanta Braves’ home stadium, SunTrust Park.
The last two stops on the East Coast leg of the baseball stadium tour are both in Florida. The first one is Tampa Bay Rays’ Tropicana Field. While the stadium is actually located in St. Petersburg, FL, the closest station and airport are in Tampa. Don’t fret because there’s an easy way to get to the field by local transit bus.
After Tampa, head down to Miami to visit Marlins Park and complete the East Coast portion of the trip before you jump on a flight to Houston.

This portion of the trip is quite simple, as there are only two MLB stadiums in Texas. If you’re coming from Miami, your best bet is to hit up Houston first with a visit to Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.
From Houston, hop on a bus to Dallas. As the Globe Life Park stadium is actually located in Arlington, TX, you will need to hop in a cab or a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to get you from the bus station to the ballpark and back.
After Dallas, the next goal of your tour will be visiting every baseball stadium in the Southwest. For that, you will need to hop on a plane from Dallas to Phoenix, AZ.

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ stadium, Chase Field, in Phoenix is the first stop before heading to San Diego to check out Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. From there, a two-hour train ride will take you to Anaheim for a visit of Angel Stadium, followed by another train ride on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner to Los Angeles to check out the world-famous Dodger Stadium.
From LA, you can hop on a bus to San Francisco and stop by AT&T Park. As Oakland is in the San Francisco metropolitan area, you can get to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum with a very short ride on the local Bay Area Rapid Transit.
Visit the Major League Baseball Stadiums in Seattle & Denver
After checking out all the baseball fields in California, you will only have two more cities to hit, Seattle & Denver, to complete your bucket list with visits to Seattle Mariners’ Safeco Field and Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, respectively.

With both Seattle and Denver located quite remotely from the rest of the cities on this trip, it would be faster and cheaper to fly to either destination. However, if you’re up for an adventure, take the Amtrak Coast Starlight train from San Francisco to Seattle for some truly amazing views of the West Coast’s nature that features both water and mountain landscapes.
