Colonial Heights is a city rich in history, as evidenced by its name, which originates from the Revolutionary War. The name Colonial Heights refers to the garrison established by the Colonial Forces above Petersburg during the siege. Now, much of the city's rich history tracing back to the time of the siege can still be enjoyed and appreciated today.

The main historical attraction in Colonial Heights is Fort Clifton, which used to be a Confederate stronghold. Visitors also flock to the Old Brick House, which is the oldest brick structure in the city. Then there's also Violet Bank, which served as General Lee's headquarters.
