Amtrak's Northeast Regional trains and Thruway buses stop at the station in Newport News. The station has a waiting room with restrooms and vending machines, but there are not many amenities in the immediate area surrounding the station.

Although there are a few parking lots on the Virginia Tech campus, most are restricted for use by the university community. There is paid parking available in the North End Center Garage.
