Valladolid is in Spain's Castile and Leon province, northwest of Madrid. Although it's a small city, impressive architecture and an unexpectedly lively nightlife scene make Valladolid definitely worth visiting.

The National Museum of Sculpture, one of Europe's most important sculpture museums, includes collections from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period housed within a Renaissance building. The Cathedral of Valladolid also showcases this Renaissance architectural style and offers daily tours.

Your explorations will undoubtedly take you through the Plaza Mayor de Valladolid, the city's central square. Relax in one of the cafes and bars lining the plaza to while away the day with the Spanish locals. Or, stroll through Campo Grande Park on a sunny day to experience the many tree and flower species in the city's largest green space. The various water features and ponds scattered on the lawns make for an ideal place for a picnic.

Valladolid's proximity to Madrid makes it easy to reach. Simply take the train from the capital on the high speed AVE line, or take the Alsa bus from Madrid to Valladolid. Bus and rail routes also connect Valladolid to many other cities throughout Spain. The Valladolid Airport is only 15 minutes from the city, but Madrid Airport offers flights from many more places.
