Paris, the famous City of Lights, is the premier destination of choice for people visiting France. Paris is a central hub of transportation in France and Europe, in general. Visitors can catch trains to other cities at one of the six central stations: Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare d'Austerlitz, Gare Montparnasse, and Gare Saint-Lazare. The main bus station is Paris Bercy Bourgogne - Pays d'Auvergne located not too far from Gare d'Austerlitz. The principal airports in the city are Paris–Charles de Gaulle, Paris–Orly, and Beauvais–Tillé Airport.

Grenoble is a city in the French Alps known as a major centre of research and innovation. A can't miss activity is taking the cable car 260 meters above the town to the 19-century fortress, La Bastille. Explore the mountainside area and enjoy the panoramic views of the city and its many surrounding mountain ranges. These mountains are, of course, ideal for hiking, climbing, and skiing. Nearby ski resorts are Autrans in the Vercors and Chamrousse in Belledonne.

Back in town, check out the Palace of the Parliament of Dauphiné, constructed in the 15th-century, and the Musée de l'Ancien Évêché, in a former bishop's palace, to learn about Grenoble's history. The city has many more museums, but its eponymous Museum of Grenoble is worth prioritizing for its extensive collection of artworks from masters such as Ruben, Gauguin, Renoir, Picasso, and more.

The majority of travellers to Grenoble take the train from Paris or Lyon. Additional SNCF trains connect the city to destinations across the country. BlaBlaCar Bus and FlixBus also serve Grenoble, with routes from Valence, Annecy, Bordeaux, and more.
