Split to Salzburg coach

Located on the picturesque Adriatic Coast, Split is the second-largest city in Croatia. With a history including Roman, Venetian, Austrian, French, Italian, and Yugoslav rule, Split has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its many historic attractions and strikingly varied architecture.

The Palazzo di Diocleziano lies at the city's historic heart. This exceptionally well-preserved 4th-century palace showcases the Roman emperor Diocletian's stately retirement home and military camp. Walk along the Roman streets with their original paving stones, and see if you can identify several "Game of Thrones" filming locations. After walking through the maze of cobblestone streets in Old Town, sit in one of the many cafes in People's Square for an afternoon coffee.

For even more of a taste of Croatia, visit one of the local restaurants. As Split is a coastal town, seafood dishes are the standard, but the flavours are far above standard! Make sure to try brudet, a traditional seafood stew commonly served along the Croatian coast. Finish your meal with mandulat, a traditional dessert from the Dalmatia region, made with honey and almonds.

You can easily reach Split from many national and international destinations. Split Airport offers international flights, and an airport shuttle bus provides easy access to the city. Coach services connect Split to many cities across Europe, including Budapest, Berlin, and Bratislava. Deutsche Bahn trains even run all the way to Split, so you can travel the entire length of Central Europe.

Salzburg is located in the north of Austria and might be best known for its stunning landscapes and locations featured in The Sound of Music. Don't worry, there are plenty of organized tours to see the Von Trapps' house, the hills where Maria sings, and more of the film's iconic settings. This cultural and historic city offers many more activities set against the stunning backdrop of churches and castles.

Salzburg Old Town, or Altstadt, is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, and it is easy to see why. The beautiful Baroque-style architecture and churches are straight out of a fairytale, while the looming Hohensalzburg Castle and attached museum serve as a reminder of Salzburg's decadent past.

Salzburg was a musically famous city even before The Sound of Music, as it's known for being the birthplace of Mozart. Music lovers can visit his residence and the locations associated with Mozart's life in Salzburg. In winter, be sure to stay for one of Salzburg's famous Christmas markets. The Christkindlmarkt tradition dates back to the 15-century, with hundreds of stalls offering the finest mulled wine, handmade crafts, and delicious Christmas treats.

Salzburg is well-connected to much of Europe by ground and air travel. Popular train routes to Salzburg travel from Vienna, Berlin, and Cologne. Salzburg Airport provides an alternative way to reach Salzburg, located just 4 kilometres from the city centre.
