Augusta is the capital city of Maine, located beside the Kennebec River. It is known for its rich history, like the Old Fort Western that runs by the river, an 18th-century wooden fort with a renovated general store.

Augusta also includes the Maine State Museum, which exhibits the local and natural history of the city. History buffs can check out the Blaine House, the state governor's residence, and the Maine State House, which has been around since the 19th century and runs across the riverside Capitol Park. Outdoor enthusiasts can visit Southeast Augusta, with different trails for hiking, biking, and running, like the Voles Arboretum.

Augusta is home to different breweries and wineries, offering beer and wine tours for its visitors. The city features different taprooms, lounges, restaurants, bars, and clubs for you to visit. From jazz clubs to fine dining, there are different options for you. Downtown Augusta has a mix of old and new establishments, with locations for family outings and exciting nightlife.

You can visit Augusta by bus from other cities through the Concord Coach Lines, which has daily scheduled trips to the town. If you're traveling by train, Amtrak has plenty of connecting routes across the country.
