About Amtrak Ethan Allen Express

The Ethan Allen Express is a regional train part of Amtrak's nationwide rail network. Starting service in 1996, the Amtrak Ethan Allen Express was the first passenger rail line to Rutland, Vermont since 1953 when Rutland Railroad ended its long-standing service. The Ethan Allen Express has been popular with vacationers since its opening because it offers stops near the ski town of Killington. This line is named after Ethan Allen, an American Revolutionary War hero and Vermont founding figure.

Amtrak Ethan Allen Express operates along 241 miles of railroad between New York City and Rutland, Vermont. The line is designated as a higher-speed train, which means it travels faster than conventional locomotives, though not fast enough to be dubbed "high-speed" rail. The Ethan Allen Express makes ten intermediate stops between NYC and Rutland, including Albany-Rensselaer and Schenectady.

Traveling through the Hudson River Valley, Amtrak's Ethan Allen Express offers passengers miles of scenic countryside, wilderness, and beautiful foliage. Burlington to New York

Pros: Ethan Allen express is a pretty good train , runs fast and offers beautiful scenery on the way through VT and NY. The time taken is just below 7.5 hours and is not tiring by any means. The pantry car is reasonably priced. Cons: may be more options in Pantry. Tips: Take the train and enjoy.

New York to Burlington

Pros: No TSA crap and it arrives in the middle of the city you don't have to take a taxi from the airport. Cons: Loading at Penn Station was a bit of a disappointment we're all waiting for the announcement of the track and by the time they announced it and we went to the track there was a huge line already there so I don't know where they those people got the information but it wasn't lovely. Tips: Bring some food and some water although the cafe car was very good the food actually was excellent.
