I make this trip several times a year and have never had any issues. Cons: Nothing I can think of. Tips: Recommend advanced booking to ensure seat availability especially if traveling in a group.

The Cobourg VIA Station serves VIA Rail's Toronto to Ottawa and Toronto to Montreal lines. In 2011, the existing station was expanded to include a new platform, a modernized skywalk, and additional amenities, including accessible entrances and bicycle facilities. There is plentiful seating and restrooms inside. There is currently no local transit service to the station, but parking is available for those driving themselves. Several fast-food restaurants are just a short walk away on Division Street for a meal before your train ride.
