State College is a college town, hence the name. It is home to Penn State University, one of the largest universities in the United States. Ardmore is a small, unincorporated town about 10 miles west of Philadelphia. Ardmore is one of the largest and wealthiest communities in the Philadelphia Main Line region, which is a string of suburbs located along the historic Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line. Today, Ardmore is a popular place to live for professionals who commute into Philly on the SEPTA Regional Rail and for academics associated with nearby Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College.
