Greyhound

Pros: New Mexico and Albuquerque are beautiful . You must take a drive on the Turquoise Highway from ABQ to Santa Fe through Madrid & Cerrillos. The historic part of Santa Fe could be a set for a Zorro film. Route 66, including Central Ave in ABQ, is full of old fashioned motels and diners that Kerouac would recognize. The Doghouse & Whole Hog Cafe are great. If you like trains , walk past the now mostly abandoned Santa Fe RR shops and buildings near the Amtrak/ Greyhound station. Online it says Hertz has an office downtown but they don’t . Enterprise is near Broadway & Lomas , you can walk there if you don’t have too many bags . A Rail Runner Commuter train lets vets with VA med cards ride free. Tips: From watching Breaking Bad you’d think NM is all dirty and awful but it’s beautiful. Just beware the Hertz agency at the Amtrak/Greyhound station doesn’t exist. Enterprise is downtown and a Mustang convertible only $10 a day more than a regular car .
