About FlixTrain

Part of the FlixBus family, FlixTrain is a German rail company offering long-distance passenger connections within Germany without the fuss. The popular European bus company FlixBus launched the new affordable and sustainable train service in 2018 in partnership with private train operators to run the routes. The bulk of FlixTrain's 7045 routes are within Germany, but they have recently begun expanding service into Sweden.

Serving some of Germany's most popular cities, FlixTrain routes include Berlin to Stuttgart, Hamburg to Munich, and Hamburg to Aachen. In Sweden, FlixTrain operates services on the busy Stockholm to Gothenburg route. In total, FlixTrain routes connect 38 cities via their 58291 trips per month.

Although one of FlixTrain's appeals is its competitive pricing, its trains offer Wi-Fi, power outlets, air conditioning, onboard restrooms, and movies via the Flix entertainment portal. In addition, each passenger gets a guaranteed seat, so there's no chance of needing to stand. Trains have snack bars onboard, too – don't forget to carry some cash or a credit card to take advantage of what they offer.

FlixTrain has been a Wanderu partner since 2018. This means you can rely on Wanderu.com to show you the best deals for FlixTrain tickets. On Wanderu.com and the Wanderu app, you can compare travel dates and routes, so you're fully in control of your journey without paying a premium.

FlixTrain Train Guide & FAQs

Yes, FlixTrain offers WiFi on their trains. Although most trips with FlixTrain will have WiFi as advertised, some trains might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. FlixTrain WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

Yes, there are power outlets onboard FlixTrain trains. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbor might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power outlets, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a USB power adapter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since FlixTrain might sometimes use replacement train vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

On a typical day, FlixTrain has 4164 scheduled train trips in total. However, the exact departure and arrival times vary depending on the day and route. The best way to find the exact schedule for your trip is to use the search tool on this page.

No, FlixTrain does not offer will call tickets. You should purchase your tickets online and make sure you have everything you need to board before you arrive at the station.

No, FlixTrain does not require an ID to board its trains at this time. Of course, it is always a good idea to carry a government-issued ID whenever you hit the road.

Yes, there are bathrooms on FlixTrain trains. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

FlixTrain provides snacks to satisfy your hunger during your travels. Be sure to pack a credit card and some cash in case you get hungry.

FlixTrain does not require a printed ticket to board the train. Instead, an eTicket is sent to you by email when you make your reservation. You can use your smartphone to show this eTicket to the ticketing agent as you board.

FlixTrain goes the extra distance to deliver premium features to its customers.

For instance, onboard every FlixTrain train, there is an attendant to tend to your needs.

Movies are provided during the train trip to keep you entertained. Don’t forget to bring your favorite pair of headphones, as headphones are not always included on the train. We recommend in-ear noise cancelling headphones due to their small size.
