30 May 2022- Solo travel

Courtenay to Nanaimo

Pros: The bus showed up and loaded a few minutes early, left on time and arrived on time, down to the minute. Nailed it. Cons: There's not a tonne of leg room. My ticket said I could bring 2 bags. I thought one of them would be stored under the bus. I ended u pop riding with both. I didn't ask if there was storage under / on the outside of the bus but the driver didn't offer either. There's no overhead storage inside. It wasn"t an issue in the end because there were only 9 passengers in total on the trip. Tips: Social distancing was maintained - due to there only being 9 passengers in total. But, nobody on board was wearing a mask. Just, FYI. I did not notice if there was wifi. I napped. Reasonably priced, especially given the price of fuel. It would have cost me as much or more to drive my own vehicle. Also the trip took only about 15 minutes more than it would take to drive myself, and it arrived exactly on time. This is appreciated even more by the person picking oneself up at the destination.

27 May 2022- Solo travel

Victoria to Nanaimo

Pros: The bad : The bus felt sort of old. So much rattling noises that makes it hard to snooze off for a bit. Every time the bus downshifts, it jerks which wakes you up if you’re dozed off. The good : Left the depot on time. And this is the major one: the bus driver. This guy deserves a raise. He was very professional, friendly, funny and made the trip a breeze. Highway was shut down because of a fire and he made the extra 1hr detour kind of okay with his funny jokes and stuff. Got me to my destination safe and sound! Cons: Maybe a newer bus or fix some of the rattling noises!

14 May 2022- Couples trip

Nanaimo to Courtenay

Pros: Coach is a big bus very comfortable ride in a rainy day. Big windows allowed us to have good view of the scenery along the way as it’s literally going along the bays, beautiful to see. Cons: The velvet seats are comfy to sit in but the humidity and seasonal weather made the fabric smell a bit. Tips: Very comfortable ride highly recommended.

VI Connector Bus Guide & FAQs

Yes, VI Connector offers WiFi on their buses. Although most trips with VI Connector will have WiFi as advertised, some buses might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. VI Connector WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

Yes, there are power outlets onboard VI Connector buses. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbor might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power outlets, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a USB power adapter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since VI Connector might sometimes use replacement bus vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

On a typical day, VI Connector has 6 scheduled bus trips in total. However, the exact departure and arrival times vary depending on the day and route. The best way to find the exact schedule for your trip is to use the search tool on this page.

No, VI Connector does not offer will call tickets. You should purchase your tickets online and make sure you have everything you need to board before you arrive at the station.

No, VI Connector does not require an ID to board its buses at this time. Of course, it is always a good idea to carry a government-issued ID whenever you hit the road.

Yes, there are bathrooms on VI Connector buses. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

VI Connector does not offer meals or beverages onboard. We recommend you bring a drink and some snacks for your trip. We also suggest packing a reusable water bottle with you to reduce your impact on the environment. However, note that most buses do not allow you to bring your own alcoholic drinks.

Yes, VI Connector requires that all passengers have printed tickets to board the bus. When you book with Wanderu and activate your account, you will be able to easily find and download your tickets for most buses.

VI Connector focuses on delivering a great travel experience at a low price and currently does not offer premium features like extra legroom or onboard entertainment. But these days, between your laptop, tablet, smartphone and e-reader, you’re the master of your own entertainment even on longer journeys.
