29 July 2023- Couples trip

VIA Rail

Pros: So relaxing and beautiful to travel by train! Cons: We arrived in Sarnia more than an hour late, so we didn't get home until after 1am. That was hard. But they did offer us a 50%-off voucher, so that was nice. I hope we get the chance to jump through the hoops necessary to take advantage of it. Also, our car had a passenger who passed out, and an ambulance had to be called. It was hard for staff to be discreet with their walkie-talkie communications, so we all heard what the issues were, and what was happening around him. If I had been in his shoes, I would have been horrified to know that the entire car knew what was happening. Waiting for the ambulance to come take him off at the next stop delayed us further, but life happens.... Tips: Just adjust your expectations about punctuality. Freight trains will always take priority over passenger train. If you can be realistic, in terms of adapting your expectations based on need, then the travel continues to be relaxing, with no surprises.
