Amtrak California Zephyr

Pros: I enjoyed spending time in the observation car; my seatmate was friendly; and most train employees were pleasant and helpful. Cons: The bathrooms were very dirty, which is why the overnight attendant was cranky in the morning. Also, I asked the same attendant, to switch seats because my seat was under the lights by the stairway, but she attendant didnt want to switch my seat. When i asked her why she said she didnt want to….even though the next passenger wasnt boarding until the morning. I would have slept better had she let me switch overnight. The snack car and other attendants were very helpful and accommodating! Wifi on the train would be awesome! Even wifi intermittently would be better than none at all. I want to travel the same route angain later this month. I just checked the price and its $60 more one way… why? Tips: Bring a pillow and lap blanket.
