Amtrak Empire Builder

Pros: Comfy Seats nice and quit and my husband didn't have to drive . Cons: the train was 6 hours late- we had to wait at the depot in the middle of the night for 6 hours. Tips: Take snacks with you to the depot in case you have to wait a long time.

Pros: Did not have to drive. Cons: Train was delayed 6 hours, when I called in they said it might be an hour late but come at the scheduled time just in case- we waited at the Minot depot for 6 hours-the vending machines in their didn't even work. Everyone that tried lost their money in it.

Amtrak Empire Builder

Pros: Luxurious, spacious, and reasonably cheap. Cons: Maybe a map or description of the cars and where/how to gwr to the bar or complimentary breakfast car. I could not get any staff to pause long enough to ask where the lounge/bar car was. They seemed too busy to even ask. I did find a "woman's lounge" but not the cafe/bar. Tips: Bring pillow &/or blanket.

Minot is a North Dakota city home to the Minot Air Force Base as well as the Dakota Territory Air Museum. The Scandinavian Heritage Park is another top site for history buffs, which honors the immigrant history in Minot.
