With exotic vegetation and a temperate climate during the summer months, it's easy to think that you've accidentally walked all the way to the Mediterranean.
Although Heidelberg does not have an airport, the Mannheim Airport is under 15km away, and it's easy to take a train from Mannheim to Heidelberg. Kornwestheim is a regional railway station in the Ludwigsburg district of Stuttgart, in the far north of the city. The station is serviced by S-Bahn and regional trains traveling to Backnang, Bietigheim, and Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. The station doesn't have many amenities besides a waiting area on each platform, but it is located centrally in Kornwestheim- so you can find bakeries, restaurants, a hotel, and a REWE supermarket close by. There are also local bus stops to continue your journey or for easy commuting.
