The Northeast Regional is a passenger rail service operated by Amtrak, the largest train travel provider in America. The train route connects 56 cities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Northeast Regional trains run between Boston, MA and Virginia Beach, VA, with stops at several key destinations along the East Coast, including Providence, Hartford, New York City, and Washington D.C.

As the more affordable of the two main train lines that connect New York City with Boston and D.C. (the other one being Amtrak’s premium and faster Acela service), the Northeast Regional is the busiest and most popular of all Amtrak routes. Trains run multiple times per day in either direction, transporting over 20,000 passengers on a daily basis. Pros: Over all I enjoyed the experience catching the train. However it’s not for the week. More thought should go into not selling out to allow for a nore more comfortable experience! Cons: The overcrowding. Sell less tickets allow for a more comfortable experience. Or even assign seats. Tips: Prepare for long lines and crowding.

Pros: Quiet, smooth and the best part I was able to sleep for about 6 hours on the trip. I was well rested looking forward to doing it again.😁😁😁😁😁. Cons: Free snacks lol lol lol lol 😅😅😅. Tips: Don't ever travel without booking through Wandru. They are the best.

All Amtrak Northeast Regional tickets can be cancelled for a full refund within the first 24 hours after purchase. If more than 24 hours have passed, the cancellation policy and change fee structure for Amtrak bookings depend on the type of fare you purchased:

Saver Fare tickets: A 25% fee applies for any changes. If you cancel the trip, you will receive an eVoucher worth 75% of the original ticket price.

Value Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable up to 15 or more days before departure. If cancelled less than 14 days before departure, a 25% cancellation fee applies.

Flexible, Business and Premium Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable if cancelled or changed before departure.
