Erlangen is a small city in the German state of Bavaria, located just north of Nuremberg. Most of Erlangen's residents are enrolled or employed at either the Friedrich-Alexander University or the Siemens company. The palatial station first opened in 1871, and while its historic facade has been maintained, the station's interior has modernized significantly. If you take the metro from Central, don't miss the vivid murals in the subway tunnels.
