Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: beautiful views out windows; liked observation car (crowded & louder socializing), despite lots of other passengers it’s quiet in seats; affordable travel option .. would take again. Wish we had more time options, more trains throughout day. Cons: Need water to be available 24/7 not just when snack bar open to buy in plastic bottle- important given length of journey. Healthier food choices could be available.. coast starlight in CA had better food service than San Antonio TX train I took earlier this year. Tips: bring food & water; be waiting when train arrives. They are very quick to load up & be on the way, esp because of multiple stops.
