Though all the exterior shots are of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, the cafeteria scenes, the ending scene, and the magical ballroom scene in Maid in Manhattan, starring Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes, take place in New York’s Roosevelt Hotel. Opened in 1924, the hotel has been restored to its original splendor and spans over a full city block on Madison Avenue.
The Stanley Hotel: The Shining
The Stanley Hotel located in Estes Park, CO inspired author Stephen King to write his 1977 novel The Shining. The movie was filmed at the Timberline Lodge in Oregon. Whether it is enticing or repelling, there have been many haunted happenings reported at this lodge. Some guests say they find their belongings moved from place to place, report the lights being switched on or off, and even hear the sounds of children laughing down the hallway where there are no children to be found. The hotel offers night ghost tours and paranormal investigations.
Caesar’s Palace: The Hangover
Hopefully, if you find yourself at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, you are not accompanied by a roaring headache, a tiger, or a missing tooth. The 2009 hit movie The Hangover begins with the group of friends checking into the decadent lobby of the hotel and pieces of the suites are used for later scenes (and no, it isn’t the real Caesar’s palace).
The Bellagio: Ocean’s Eleven
The Bellagio Hotel is where the intricate scheme unfolds in Ocean’s Eleven. Located on South Las Vegas Boulevard, the hotel’s fountain of “dancing waters” also makes an appearance in the film, highlighted in the scene at the end after the crew completes their mission.
