Named for the river running through the town, Chemnitz is a cultural center in Saxony, close to Germany's border with Czechia. The city was known as Karl-Marx-Stadt before German reunification, and an enormous bronze sculpture of Karl Marx's head reminds visitors of this legacy. The Marseille-St-Charles Station is the primary train and intercity bus station in Marseille. The station sits atop a small hill; to access it from the center of Marseille, climb up the iconic Escalier Gare Saint-Charles, a large flight of stairs.
