FlixBus US

Pros: It didn't mention a stop at Connecticut at the time of booking. Cons: Detailed outline on stops and estimated arrival time. Tips: They should arrive an hour or 30 minutes early because the bus left on time at all stops.

27 April 2025- Vacation

Peter Pan Lines

Pros: Great price compared to other traveling options. It does feel great to sit back and relax and not have to do any of the driving! Cons: The first come, first serve seating is a bit stressful if you are traveling with a group/family. Can be a bit uncomfortable asking people to move their belongings from an empty seat to free up a space to sit. Seat selection for assign seating would be nice. Tips: Luggage compartment will be opened from the exterior side of the bus by the bus driver. No need to worry about carrying on any luggage into the bus. There are overhead compartments, but these are more for smaller items such as a personal item. (ie. backpack).

3 November 2024- Solo travel

Peter Pan Lines

Pros: Both legs of the trip (Philadelphia - New York & New York - Boston) arrived on time without issues. I enjoyed the window views on the trip from New York to Boston as the bus had large and clean windows. Cons: Leg room in seats was still very cramped. The second bus lacked a tray for working on a laptop and the first one's tray was very small. Tips: Make sure to get in line early to secure a decent seat. There are a lot of good food options outside of the Port Authority Bus Terminal that are much better than those inside so its worth checking around.

26 July 2024- Visiting family

Greyhound

Pros: The experience was very satisfying. From the moment I boarded the bus, the staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome. The bus was clean and comfortable, which is essential for a long journey. The trip went smoothly, with scheduled stops at convenient locations that allowed us to stretch our legs and refresh ourselves. The punctuality was also commendable; we arrived in Boston on time, which I greatly appreciate. Additionally, the onboard amenities like Wi-Fi access and charging outlets made the journey much more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend this bus company to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable transportation option between Philadelphia and Boston. I will definitely use their services again in the future. Cons: They should try to maintain more hygiene in the bathroom because my seat was in front of the bathroom and after a trip the smell was very unpleasant every time they opened the bathroom door. Tips: Stay informed about the location of your bus through the app.

City Information

Philadelphia

We may feel a little bit more than just brotherly love for Philadelphia, a city steeped in history and culture. Where else can you channel your inner Rocky Balboa on his epic run, and later enjoy an authentic Philly cheesesteak as a reward?

Philadelphia’s affordability (especially compared to other East Coast cities) is just one of many reasons it is among Wanderu’s best destinations for college students. Another reason is how much there is to do! Early American history takes precedence at Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, while museums abound on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, sometimes called the most artistic mile in the city. Head to Reading Terminal Market to fuel up for a night hitting the bars, clubs, and live music joints that line South Street.

Philadelphia is a major hub for both Greyhound and Amtrak, and its 30th Street Station is one of the busiest stations in the country. The plentitude of ground travel and the nearby Philadelphia International Airport make this exciting city very easily accessible, even on a budget.

Boston

Boston is one of the oldest cities in the country, but it is kept young and fresh with the help of over 150,000 students who flock to the city’s prestigious universities every year. Beantown’s many sights and activities celebrate American history, prolific sports teams, and New England seafood. So let's spill the tea (into the harbor, if you will):

Boston's Freedom Trail is the best way to see the city on foot and visit some of the most iconic landmarks of the American Revolution: from Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution to the Old North Church and Faneuil Hall. The Freedom Trail officially begins in Boston Common, the oldest public park in the U.S. and a beautiful spot for walking, picnicking, or ice skating in the winter. Foodies will love tasting the Italian cuisine in the North End and the modern eateries of South End, while sports fans can tour Fenway Park, and art lovers can explore the expansive Museum of Fine Arts.

From Boston, travelers can easily get to the beachy summer destination of Cape Cod, or surrounding states like New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island. With four main train stations and several bus stops in the city, as well as Boston Logan Airport (which, by the way, has some excellent airport food), Boston is a central hub for travel throughout New England and beyond.
