The most popular train routes to Lynchburg come from New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Chicago. Meanwhile, buses typically connect from New York, Baltimore, and Charlotte.

The airport serving the city is Piedmont Triad International Airport, which is located in Guilford County.
