Canterbury Bus Station is a large space on St George's Lane along the south side of Whitefriars Centre, a shopping mall. Local buses and long-distance National Express coaches stop in the station's many bus bays to pick up passengers. Although the station is outdoors, there are shelters near each bay, and in the area, you can find hotels, hostels, cafes, and fast-food restaurants for some refreshments or a warmer waiting area. The bus station is about a half-mile from the town centre, so most of Canterbury is within about a ten-minute walk from the bus station.
