Usually when I ride the bus it cost me $29-31 dollars. I used to work for Jefferson Bus Lines for 8 years and dispatcher in Ft. Smith AR. So I'm very aware of down time and all. Thank God we had a safe trip. Oh, one more thing about the bus we were on, we couldn't charge our phone, the outlets wasn't working 😑. More

Greyhound Coach Guide & FAQs

Can you reschedule your Greyhound trip?

Yes, you can reschedule your Greyhound tickets for another date or time. A $20 change fee applies in addition to any difference in the ticket price.

Are Greyhound tickets refundable?

No, Greyhound tickets are typically nonrefundable, unless you purchase a more expensive ticket that explicitly includes the flexibility to refund it.

Do Greyhound coaches have WiFi?

Yes, Greyhound offers WiFi on their coaches. Although most trips with Greyhound will have WiFi as advertised, some coaches might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. Greyhound WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

How many bags can you carry on a Greyhound bus?

Carry On Bags: You can bring one bag up to 25 lbs or 11 kg on to the bus with you. The bag must be able to fit into the overhead bin or fully under the seat in front of you.

Checked Baggage: You are allowed to bring up to 2 bags that will be placed under the bus for the duration of your trip. Each bag needs to be less than 50 lbs or 22.5 kg, with a maximum total size of 62 inches when the width, length and height of the bag are all added up.

Are there power points or USB points on the coach?

Yes, there are power points onboard Greyhound coaches. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbour might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power points, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power point USB converter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since Greyhound might sometimes use replacement coach vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

What is Greyhound's schedule?

On a typical day, Greyhound has 29049 scheduled coach trips in total. However, the exact departure and arrival times vary depending on the day and route. The best way to find the exact schedule for your trip is to use the search tool on this page.

Can you pick up will call tickets at the station?

Yes, Greyhound offers the option to purchase will call tickets. Will call tickets are an option that allows you to book the tickets ahead of time online, then pick up the tickets from an agent or kiosk once you arrive at the station. Note that you will need to bring the confirmation information you received when you made your ticket purchase.

How much is a child ticket?

One infant (under the age of 2) can ride for free if they sit on an adult's lap. Discounted tickets are available for children between the ages of 2 and 11, but these discounts are limited to two children per one adult ticket. Any additional children would require a full priced adult ticket.

Do you need an ID to get on the coach?

Yes, Greyhound requires you to present an ID to an agent to be allowed to board the coach. Make sure you have identification issued by a government agency that meets the carrier’s requirements. Alternative IDs, such as a college ID, won’t work.

Are there toilets on Greyhound coaches?

Yes, there are bathrooms on Greyhound coaches. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

Are meals or drinks offered during the trip?

Greyhound does not offer meals or beverages onboard. We recommend you bring a drink and some snacks for your trip. We also suggest packing a reusable water bottle with you to reduce your impact on the environment. However, note that most coaches do not allow you to bring your own alcoholic drinks.

Do you have to print your Greyhound ticket?

Yes, Greyhound requires that all passengers have printed tickets to board the coach. When you book with Wanderu and activate your account, you will be able to easily find and download your tickets for most coaches.

Does Greyhound offer any premium features like extra legroom or movies?

Greyhound goes the extra distance to deliver premium features to its customers.

Movies are provided during the coach trip to keep you entertained. Don’t forget to bring your favorite pair of headphones, as headphones are not always included on the coach. We recommend in-ear noise cancelling headphones due to their small size.

Board games are all the rage these days and Greyhound is keeping up with the latest trends by providing games you can play with your seat neighbors.
