Designated as a heritage station, the VIA Rail Station at Kitchener is a one-story brick structure originally built in 1897. It is located on a narrow strip on the outer edge of the commercial centre of Kitchener. Alterations to the original structure in the 20th century led to the current simple, horizontal design. VIA Rail trains depart from Kitchener's station heading to destinations including Toronto and Montreal. Local GO Transit and Grand River Transit buses stop near the station.
