Amtrak California Zephyr

Pros: It was so nice. If you’re a chatty Cathy like I am there’s lots of other riders ready for a conversation. My husband was happy in our reserved seats while I went back and forth from the wonderful observation car then back to him. Cons: Everything was comfy and clean til I went to use the bathroom. New paint, caulking where necessary and faucet would make a huge difference. Tips: Bring snacks. Our trip ground to a halt when a freight train ahead us had a break down that lasted a few hours-we we’re thankful for the snacks and drinks we had. Also, be aware of a possible situation like this on YOUR trip. You’ll be stuck until you’re unstuck, and trains aren’t always capable of a quick fix if they have problems.

Pros: Roomette was nice and quiet better than sitting in lounge area. Cons: Bathroom could of been cleaner And couldn't hear when there was an announcement over intercom Couldn't connect to wifi. Tips: Bid on roomette when given the chance it was worth it and it came with meals and unlimited soft beverages for the duration of oyour trip.
