14 December 2023- Visiting friends

Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: Although my train was 4 hrs late departing from Sac. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see it in the daylight for a change. I always wanted to see the beautiful scenery so I got my wish. I did manage to catch 2 hrs sleep but had to see the scenery past Redding to Klamath. The Dunsmir Canyon was spectacular as was the view of Mt. Shasta in full glory. Tips: Check your train schedule before heading to the station. Usually it is on time but this time was 4hrs delay. Lesson learned.

16 July 2022- Visiting family

Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: Rides were super quiet and we were able to sleep throughout most of each. Way more space than a plane, even in coach. Staff was helpful and went above and beyond in some cases. Tips: Switch to Verizon Wireless if you want internet or service through most of the trip. My T-Mobile phone did not cut it for more than half the ride.
