About Amtrak Sunset Limited
Running roughly east-west, the Amtrak Sunset Limited crosses five US states: Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
The end-to-end journey between New Orleans and Los Angeles lasts two full days. It takes in an incredible array of American landscapes, from the bayou of Louisiana to the mountains of California, crossing rivers and deserts along the way. Overall, the Sunset Limited makes 24 daily trips going to 21 cities.
Amtrak Sunset Limited is one of the country's oldest rail services, tracing its history back to 1894. Operated by Amtrak since 1971, when the company came into being, it carries around 60,000 passengers each year across its 1,995-mile route.
The trains are double-decker, meaning the cars have the option of lower or upper coach class seating and a variety of Superliner roomettes, bedrooms, and suites. In addition, there are two options for onboard dining: a traditional dining service with sit-down meals in a dining car and a more informal café service with snacks and drinks.
To book tickets onboard Amtrak Sunset Limited, look no further than Wanderu! Wanderu has been an official partner of Amtrak since 2015, meaning you can book the best deals for the Amtrak Sunset Limited on the market on Wanderu.

Pros cheaper transportation Cons nothing
Pros it is a train only thing better would of been during day Cons it was great Tips take a blanket and pillow
Pros Comfort and relaxation
Pros The train was very comfortable and the view was great. I loved not having to drive ! There was a slight weather delay but not too bad . The station was a 10 minute Uber ride to my brothers apartment. Cons Everything was just fine for me. Tips Bring snacks for longer trips.
Pros Pretty comfortable Cons Had to wait out doors for 30 minutes.
Pros We love to travel and we really enjoy riding Amtrak Cons Nothing Tips No just set back and enjoy
Pros Was suppose to ride the train, which was a rescheduled event due to weather, but was placed on a bus. Appreciate a bus was provided instead of rescheduling again. Very grateful:) Cons N/A Tips N?A
Pros The coach seats are very comfortable and very roomy and even if the person in front reclines their seat it doesn’t impact you. The cafe is good on the train and has a selection of items. Definitely enjoyed the train and the time passed quickly. Cons Better toilets Tips Bring book or if overnight bring a blanket for sleeping.
Pros Never done an Amtrak trip before but would definitely do it again the coach seats were so spacious and comfortable you can recline seats without impacting people behind you, I preferred it to flying. They have a great cafe with a good variety to pick from hot to cold food they also have a restaurant if you wished to book there. Cons The toilet facilities could be slightly better than they were I am slightly wider than the average person and I really struggled with the space given. Getting WiFi was very difficult for us to n9n existent. Tips We noticed other travellers who had done this before they brought blankets with them. We are from uk so we only had fleeces with us but they were good. We brought some snacks onboard with us and got hot snacks from the cafe which are a decent price.
Pros I like the fact that I dont have to worry about the driving. I am able to get up walk around an Stretch my legs. I met new people. Cons I can not think of anything that I would change. Tips Be on time. My only advise
Cons the seats and space were surprisingly spacious. but for some reason, i could not get 100% comfortable while trying to sleep. oh, the foot rest was broken.
Pros Everything, except that there's no free snack and/or drink (even water). Cons Include snack and water for those who want it. Tips Overall, travel experience is top-notch. Keep it up.
Pros It was interesting. It was my first time riding on a train and I wanted to try it out. I sat with a friendly stranger. Cons The price of the food was much too high at $45.00 so I didn’t eat. Tips Bring food or extra money.
Pros We were able to bid for an upgrade to a roomette which included meals - super comfortable and great value for money! Cons No announcements on the effect of delays on arrival time. Family meeting us waited over 2 hours which could have been avoided. Tips Upgrade if you get the chance!
Pros Price and able to rest in route. Cons Restrooms were filthy.
Pros The peace and relaxation. Cons No Complaints at all. Tips Amtrak Train is the best way to travel on land.
Pros Awesome!! Will be back Tips Enjoy the experience
Pros I like the comfortability and the easiness of the trip. I enjoyed the feeling that I had extra bedroom and extra room all in general. There are options to get food in or snacks on the train I highly recommend traveling with Amtrak for your future travel needs Cons Departure and Arrival times
Pros It was quite and comfortable Cons Get air fresheners for passengers that dont share the same ethics/culture/cleanliness as majority of travelers. Something that’s a soft fragrance to not set of allergies BUT strong enough to eliminate odor. Tips Bring food, bring a cover/pillow
Pros Unlike my first trip from Houston to Los Angeles, when I was offered double seat, the return trip was shared with a stranger despite the car having empty seats. I really appreciate the staff who assigned my seat from Houston to Los Angeles despite being late for 7 Hours. IN time of cov19, it's appreciated to offer double seats to solo travelers, especially when there are empty seats within the same destination car. Cons Offer double seats to solo travelers especially when there are empty seats within the same destination car. Tips Prepare for delays. Bring your own food, disposable pillows for over night. Install enough games on your devices when WiFi not available IN this particular route.
