About Amtrak Northeast Regional

The Northeast Regional is a passenger rail service operated by Amtrak, the largest train travel provider in America. The train route connects 53 cities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Northeast Regional trains run between Boston, MA and Virginia Beach, VA, with stops at several key destinations along the East Coast, including Providence, Hartford, New York City, and Washington D.C.

As the more affordable of the two main train lines that connect New York City with Boston and D.C. (the other one being Amtrak’s premium and faster Acela service), the Northeast Regional is the busiest and most popular of all Amtrak routes. Trains run multiple times per day in either direction, transporting over 20,000 passengers on a daily basis. On average, the price of a one-way Northeast Regional train ticket ranges from SEK 49.55 to SEK 6,977.19 depending on the specific route and how long in advance you booked your train trip.

While the Northeast Regional’s downtown-to-downtown train service makes travelling between the biggest cities in the Northeast convenient and hassle-free, the train’s amenities make the journey comfortable and relaxing as well. Aboard the Northeast Regional, Amtrak passengers can enjoy large seats with extra legroom and power sockets, as well as free WiFi and clean bathrooms. If you are craving a snack or a drink, the train’s café is there for you with a selection of warm sandwiches, donuts, packaged goods, and a variety of beverages.

As an official Amtrak partner, Wanderu has been helping travellers find and book cheap train tickets for the Northeast Regional since 2015. If you’re looking for the best available train deals, just enter the route you’d like to take and your preferred travel date in the search form above, and you will find and compare all train trips in one place.
