About Amtrak Crescent
The Crescent is an Amtrak passenger train service that runs from New York to New Orleans by way of Atlanta. The full journey from the Big Apple to the Big Easy takes approximately 30 hours, which means passengers have to spend the night aboard the train.
Stretching 1,377 miles, the Crescent is one of the longest train routes in America. It also passes through more states than any other Amtrak train: 12 states to be exact, plus the District of Columbia. Other major cities among the Crescent's 34 stops include Baltimore, MD, Charlotte, NC, Philadelphia, PA and Birmingham, AL. Crescent trains operate under numbers 19 and 20 and offer coach, business, and sleeper classes.
Carrying more than 250,000 passengers per year, the Amtrak Crescent is primarily used for long-distance train travel between the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions of the United States. For shorter trips between the northern stops, travelers are encouraged to use regional trains such as the Amtrak Northeast Regional instead. Depending on whether you’re going on the full train journey from NYC to NOLA or hopping on for an intermediate route, the price of the train ticket for the Crescent will range from SEK 79.29 to SEK 16,828.50.
As an overnight train, the Crescent offers a variety of amenities and accommodation options. In addition to regular coach class seats, Crescent trains come equipped with roomette and bedroom cars. There’s also a café car where you can enjoy freshly prepared meals and a variety of soft and alcoholic beverages. Like all Amtrak trains, the Crescent offers free WiFi, power outlets and extra legroom.
An official Amtrak partner since 2015, Wanderu allows you to search and find all Crescent train schedules, and book a cheap train ticket that fits your needs.

Pros I was amazed the friendly staff and the level of service they provided, next time I will travel with the train Amtrak Crescent Cons The travel timung Tips Good luck and enjoy your journey
Pros Very quick and efficient Cons Nothing necessary Tips Sit back and enjoy the trip
Pros I felt good about interactions with Amtrak personnel, they helped as needed. The train was in good condition, the staff there were also helpful. Only problem was a broken toilet in one car, but we could move to the next without problems. Cons Cheaper prices in the lounge car. Turn down car lights at night, not all the way, but, I felt it was difficult to sleep with that light on at the front of the car. Tips Leave plenty of time for the unexpected, like finding a parking place, getting a passcode for restroom locks, and bring snacks when you aren't certain that there will be an open shop or vending machines.
Pros Very comfy Cons They can’t help it if they were late. I’m not mad. Tips Pack light! Dress warmly!!!
Pros The quick getting off and on at each Station. Cons Assistance in the long walk to the train during the boarding of the train process. Tips Try to be at least 30 minutes early.
Pros I loved occupying a seat alone so I could relax eat my dinner and slept the rest of the way. I loved it!! Cons I can’t think of anything right now. Tips Its safe convenient relaxing and inexpensive.
Pros Took round-trip Crescent from Atlanta to New Orleans. Less hassle than flying, no long lines, no x-rays, no sardine feeling. Less stressful than driving: need 2 drivers, stops far between More leg and shoulder room; close restroom; and on-time. And the price was right. I will do it again, Cons 200 mph would be nice. Tips Bring your snacks and a blanket.
Pros I have never ridden a train long distance. I loved the idea that I didn't have to drive. Cons The train and bathrooms could be cleaner, the seat wasn't terrible but for a 9 hour trip, they could be more comfortable, also the train was about an hour late leaving Danville Va, and so we weren't able to get food at the DC stop. Also, I never heard the announcement for the Cafe on the train. But overall, I enjoyed the trip, the ride n itself was relaxing. Tips Make certain to pack snacks or food, bring a book or something else to occupy your time. Relax and enjoy the ride!
Cons Bathrooms in need of more frequent cleaning during trip.
Pros The scenery was beautiful Cons Those bathrooms need to be cleaned more often there was piss all over the place Tips Have fun and try to sleep if you can
Pros Got to see my do Cons Bathrooms Tips Bring chargers for the phone.
