Capitol Corridor is one of eight rail routes that operate across the state of California. Capitol Corridor provides intercity rail service across Northern California, connecting Auburn to San Jose. Most trains operate on the part of the route from San Jose (California's first state capitol) to Sacramento (California's current state capitol), hence the name "Capitol Corridor."

Capitol Corridor provides transport to around 1.5 million passengers annually on its service to 18 stations. Some of the main stations include Santa Clara, Oakland, Berkeley, and Sacramento. Capitol Corridor trains travel 168 miles in under four hours.

Pros: Comfort and safety. Cons: Signs to know where the snaks are or if there are snaks and Wi-Fi no work. Tips: It is a very good option to travel even for foreigners it is very convenient to get your trip ready from your phone.

Pros: That there was a station in Fremont. Cons: There was a group of around 20 passengers who were there early and waiting on the north side of the tracts (after we checked with a prior train porter about which side was correct). But the train came on the south side and we all had to run to catch it. I’m 83 and carrying my bag and running was a real hardship.

Capitol Corridor Cancellation Policy

All Capitol Corridor tickets can be cancelled for a full refund within the first 24 hours after purchase. If more than 24 hours have passed, the cancellation policy and change fee structure for Amtrak bookings depend on the type of fare you purchased:

Saver Fare tickets: A 25% fee applies for any changes. If you cancel the trip, you will receive an eVoucher worth 75% of the original ticket price.

Value Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable up to 15 or more days before departure. If cancelled less than 14 days before departure, a 25% cancellation fee applies.

Flexible, Business and Premium Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable if cancelled or changed before departure.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable after the train has departed, so be sure to make your updates as soon as possible if your travel plans change.

If your Capitol Corridor ticket is eligible for change or cancellation, you can do that by calling Amtrak’s customer service phone number at 1 (800) 872-7245. To cancel or change your booking online, simply go to www.amtrak.com and click on the “Modify Trip” tab in the upper right corner.
