Pros: I'm a senior, and wanted Business Class but it wasn't available for this trip. I did find a great seat on the lower level for seniors, and my seat had a built in table, with enough room to place my feel on my suitcase for elevation. Cons: Please spread the word that the senior seating area is for seniors. Tips: Bring your earbuds or earphones to be considerate of others. It goes a long way. People are happy when they are traveling. Making friends on the train helps you. You pick up tips that are great for future travels. If you annoy folks, they won't talk to you.

Pros: the time I saved vs driving. Cons: better communication about train cancellation as I barely made it to an earlier train. Tips: count on having your train canceled at the last minute.

Pros: saved driving to Sacramento. Tips: be prepared for departure time to not be on time.

Pros: Departure and arrival on time. Cons: Internet connection was very poor. Tips: Good.

Pros: Someone else did the driving, internet access, the views out the window, none of the hassles and inefficiencies of air travel. Cons: Not much. All went as planned. Tips: this is a relaxing way to travel.

Pros: The train departed exactly at 10:30 and it was an enjoyable ride. Cons: The engine was too loud. Tips: Have fun. My ride was short and I enjoyed the scenery.

Pros: I have taken Amtrak many times with no problems. However this time the train was 90 minutes late due to a car that had driven onto the tracks in Oakland, thus all the trains were backed up. We were given no reasons for this delay until one of the people on the platform went to get some help, only then did we find out that the train was not coming "shortly". Cons: Tell people what the problem is! Accidents happen, but without any info it is very frustrating. Getting into Sacramento almost 2 hours late was frustrating.

Easy to book, everyone was very friendly and professional and it was a very comfortable train ride. In fact, I may use the train as my main transportation up to Sacramento.
