Pros: It’s peaceful and better then being in a car ride. Cons: Healthier snack options. Nicer train station employees. Employees on train were nice but not the ones inside the strain station building in Emeryville. Tips: Bring a blanket, your own snacks, a book, some AirPods, a pillow and a charger. You can also leave your luggage on the train rather than having taken by station and delivered Seperate.

Pros: The Amtrak staff are so helpful and kind, professional and friendly. It is truly a pleasure to travel on Amtrak. Cons: The only thing "negative" that happened was that I checked my suitcase in at Fresno, thinking that it would be transferred from the train to the bus in Emeryville which connects to San Francisco. It was "only" transferred from the train to the cart, and I was supposed to then transfer it to the bus myself. I didn't understand this, and so it wasn't on the bus when I arrived in San Francisco at 2:50 p.m. The 3 successive bus drivers with whom I spoke asking if my suitcase was on their bus (one had called Emeryville to arrange this) were very helpful. The third one whose first name is Henry made sure that my suitcase got on the 5:30 p.m. bus and sure enough, it arrived at 6:00 p.m. I was thrilled even after a 3-hour wait. Also, an AmTrak agent left a message letting me know that it would be coming -- so good. All I'm suggesting here is that the agent at luggage check-in be sure to explain in detail what "transfer" mean for those of us who are slower -- the devil is always in the detail! And special kudos to Henry, one of the drivers between Emeryville and San Francisco, who made absolutely sure my suitcase was on the bus, and called me to let me know. So many thanks. Tips: See above tip!
