Pros: The scenery was beautiful. We had an observation card but the windows were filthy as was much of the train. Thank God I brought wet wipes! The food was great and the people working in the car were very nice but the ticket takers were rude! Cons: Clean the train!’. Tips: Get a sleeper car if going over night. It’s miserable trying to sleep in a seat!

Located near downtown Seattle in the trendy Pioneer Square neighborhood, King Street Station opened in 1906 and continues to impress travelers with its restored Italian architecture and Venetian-style clocktower. King Street Station has on-site Amtrak staff, restrooms, and vending machines, and while there are no restaurants in the station, several nearby coffee shops and eateries make it easy to fuel up before your trip.

It is the terminus of the Amtrak Pere Marquette line that begins in Chicago. The station building has a uniquely lit, red-brick clock tower that has become a landmark of the city and has a large waiting area, restrooms, and vending machines. Located a bit south of downtown, the train station is near a strip of charming antique stores, the Grand Rapids Ballet, and Heartside State Park.
