About Amtrak Keystone Service

The Keystone Service is Amtrak’s daily train service that travels between New York and Harrisburg, PA. As the name suggests, this is the primary train route that serves the state of Pennsylvania and connects it to New York City, as well as several cities across New Jersey. On a regular one-way trip, the train covers around 195 miles and passes through 19 cities, including Newark, Lancaster and Philadelphia. Depending on the departure point and destination, ticket prices for the Keystone Service vary from $8.21 to $268.21.

The Keystone Service started running in 1972. Since then, it has become Amtrak’s fifth-busiest route, transporting over 1.4 million passengers per year. The route is also famous for its high-speed rail portions that allow the train to reach a maximum speed of 125 mph.

Amtrak Keystone Service Cancellation Policy

All Amtrak Keystone Service tickets can be cancelled for a full refund within the first 24 hours after purchase. If more than 24 hours have passed, the cancellation policy and change fee structure for Amtrak bookings depend on the type of fare you purchased:

Saver Fare tickets: A 25% fee applies for any changes. If you cancel the trip, you will receive an eVoucher worth 75% of the original ticket price.

Value Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable up to 15 or more days before departure. If cancelled less than 14 days before departure, a 25% cancellation fee applies.

Flexible, Business and Premium Fare tickets: No change fees and fully refundable if cancelled or changed before departure.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable after the train has departed, so be sure to make your updates as soon as possible if your travel plans change.
