Bristol Temple Meads was built in 1840 as the western terminus for the Great Western Railway from London. It is a route the station still serves, while Cross Country services now connect it to Manchester and Edinburgh, as well. Bristol Temple Meads is also a hub for city buses, including the Bristol Airport Flyer and, more unusually, a ferry service across the river. The main concourse is home to restrooms, newsagents' kiosks, and food outlets. In the Temple Meads area of Bristol, plenty of parking, hotels, and pubs await travelers arriving by train.

Brighton Railway Station is the southern terminus of several of Southern Railway's lines and the Thameslink route from Bedford. Great Western Railway and Gatwick Express also operate trains that stop in Brighton. The original station was built in 1840 but has since been expanded several times to accommodate the current eight platforms.
