The train covers the stretch from Albuquerque to Trinidad in about 5 hours and 59 minutes. The Alvarado Transportation Center is the busiest bus and train station in the city. Bus service by Greyhound and Jefferson Lines will take you from Albuquerque to various cities such as Phoenix, Dallas or even Chicago. For trains, the local Amtrak lines can take you to Denver, Santa Fe, Salt Lake City and beyond. The main airport of the city is the Albuquerque International Airport, 3 miles southeast of the central business district.

While in Trinidad, you can visit museums like the Trinidad History Museum, A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art, Art Cartopia Museum, and Southern Colorado Coal Miners Memorial. It also has locations to enjoy arts, like the Corazon Gallery and Louden-Henritze Archaeology. Trinidad features historic architecture like the Bloom Mansion. Hike, run, or bike in the outdoor areas like the Trinidad Lake State Park, Fishers Peak State Park, and Kit Carson Round-Up Park.
Trinidad has different locations for enjoying beers and wines, with different breweries and brewpubs in and around the city. It also features a vibrant nightlife, including saloons, bars, social clubs, and restaurants for fine dining. Visit Historic Downtown Trinidad to enjoy the local stores, restaurants, bars, and clubs.
You can easily access Trinidad, Colorado, from many other cities when traveling by train, including Amtrak and Amtrak Southwest Chief. Few neighboring cities offer buses to Trinidad, but Greyhound has a couple of lines going to the city.

The station is currently situated on the site of the fabled Alvarado Hotel, once a luxury railroad hotel for early 20th century travelers. Maintaining the Mission Revival style of the now-demolished hotel, the Alvarado Transportation Center features arched entryways and a large clocktower that welcomes current passengers. Amtrak’s Southwest Chief line stops in Albuquerque along its Los Angeles to Chicago route, and Jefferson Lines and Greyhound operate bus service through the station as well. From the station’s downtown location, you can connect with local public transit to access the rest of the city.
