Amtrak

Pros: Comfortable seats. Restroom close. Smooth ride. We rested well. Very nice and helpful staff. Cons: Dining car options were lower quality than descriptions on the Amtrak website. Stairs up to coach seats were very steep and difficult to manage wit luggage. Trains were very far apart for train change. Too far for elderly to walk with luggage in any weather. Tips: Take very little luggage, only what you can carry around easily. Don’t change trains if you cannot walk robustly. Pack your own food, and purchase only beverages. Be patient; the train is slow, not for speedy travel.
