Pros
I appreciated how promptly the train departed, as well as the communication between staff and patrons concerning delays. I also appreciated the efforts of staff to encourage people to stow their belongings so that empty seats were clear and easy to find when boarding.
Cons
I believe that communication between trains could be improved to reduce delays. Our train had significant delays due to freight traffic when we were ironically just arriving in our destination city, which was incredibly frustrating. It took nearly two hours just to get ...More
Tips
Take a train that is scheduled to arrive multiple hours before you need to be there just in case of delays, as they seem to be quite common.

Pros
Good seating, helpful staff, available electrical outlets at each seat and wifi.
Cons
Boarding process could be improved. Train is often full and boarding isn't very efficient. People should be made to sit beside each other from the get-go if it is known that the train is going to be full.
Tips
Arrive early and be mentally prepared to sit next to somebody else you might not know, as this train is often sold-out and full to the brim.

Is there WiFi on a Amtrak Blue Water train?

Yes Amtrak Blue Water offers WiFi connection onboard their train trips. Though most trips with Amtrak Blue Water will have WiFi as advertised, some trips might not come equipped with WiFi, and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a film just to play it safe. Amtrak Blue Water WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favourite show.

Are there power points on a Amtrak Blue Water train? Are there USB points?

Yes, there are power points onboard Amtrak Blue Water train trips. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbour might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power points, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power point USB converter that typically comes with most phones and tablets. Since Amtrak Blue Water might sometimes use replacement train vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

Does Amtrak Blue Water offer will call tickets, that you pick up at the station?

No, currently Amtrak Blue Water does not offer will call tickets. You should purchase your tickets online and make sure you have everything you need to board before you arrive at the station or stop.

Do you need an ID to get on a Amtrak Blue Water train?

Yes, Amtrak Blue Water requires you to present an ID to an agent to be allowed to board the train. Make sure you have identification issued by a government agency that meets the carrier’s requirements. Alternative IDs, like a university ID, won’t work.

Are there toilets on Amtrak Blue Water trains?

Yes, there are toilets on Amtrak Blue Water train trips. The cubicles are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most cubicles don’t have running water. As you will be using a toilet on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

Are meals or drinks offered onboard Amtrak Blue Water trips?

Amtrak Blue Water provides snacks to satisfy your hunger during your travels. Check with the carrier if snacks are for sale, and pack a credit card and some cash in case you get hungry.

Do you have to print your Amtrak Blue Water ticket?

Amtrak Blue Water does not require a printed ticket to board the train. An E Ticket is sent to you by email that you can load on most electronic devices. You will want to have your ticket ready to be displayed as you board for the agent to scan. We recommend you download the Wanderu app, as it gives you super easy access to E Tickets for your upcoming trips for most carriers. As back up, road warriors recommend taking a screenshot of your E Ticket. That way, you won’t be fumbling around in case your internet connection cuts out.

Does Amtrak Blue Water offer any premium features like extra legroom, films, or TV?

Amtrak Blue Water goes the extra distance to deliver up-class offerings to its customers. Do you find yourself squished in a regular seat or just love having extra room to sprawl out?
