21 December 2023- Visiting friends

VIA Rail

Pros: As a european resident who never travelled on a train in Canada, I was a bit anxious about our luggage and the local experience. However, I needn’t have been: it was a very comfortable experience and the staff made us feel welcome immediately. Cons: I‘m not sure what the added benefit of the pre-arranged boarding is, in especially as the tickets are also checked later on the train. Tips: Be there on time for the boarding. There is no need to get there earlier as it will take some time to get everyone on the train. I would also recommend bringing some food and drinks on a longer ride if you don’t want to pay the on-board catering.

18 October 2023- Visiting friends

VIA Rail

Pros: Smooth trip. Cons: more toilet paper in the girls washroom. Tips: Be on time, they spend a few minutes calling the passengers that are not there yet and we all lose time.

VIA Rail

Pros: Is quiet, I could read and sleep nicely. Cons: space, because I got ticket for a seat with a table and more people in front of me and we were all the time with footwork under the table. Tips: don't take the seats with table in the middle.
