Frequently Asked Questions

Can you reschedule your Greyhound trip?

Yes, you can reschedule your Greyhound tickets for another date or time. A $20 change fee applies in addition to any difference in the ticket price.

Are Greyhound tickets refundable?

No, Greyhound tickets are typically nonrefundable, unless you purchase a more expensive ticket that explicitly includes the flexibility to refund it.

Do Greyhound buses have WiFi?

Yes, Greyhound offers WiFi on their buses. Although most trips with Greyhound will have WiFi as advertised, some buses might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. Greyhound WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

How many bags can you carry on a Greyhound bus?

Carry On Bags: You can bring one bag up to 25 lbs or 11 kg on to the bus with you. The bag must be able to fit into the overhead bin or fully under the seat in front of you.

Checked Baggage: You are allowed to bring up to 2 bags that will be placed under the bus for the duration of your trip. Each bag needs to be less than 50 lbs or 22.5 kg, with a maximum total size of 62 inches when the width, length and height of the bag are all added up.

Are there power points or USB points on the bus?

Yes, there are power points onboard Greyhound buses. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbour might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power points, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power point USB converter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since Greyhound might sometimes use replacement bus vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

What is Greyhound's schedule?

On a typical day, Greyhound has 24832 scheduled bus trips in total. However, the exact departure and arrival times vary depending on the day and route. The best way to find the exact schedule for your trip is to use the search tool on this page.

Can you pick up will call tickets at the station?

Yes, Greyhound offers the option to purchase will call tickets. Will call tickets are an option that allows you to book the tickets ahead of time online, then pick up the tickets from an agent or kiosk once you arrive at the station. Note that you will need to bring the confirmation information you received when you made your ticket purchase.

How much is a child ticket?

One infant (under the age of 2) can ride for free if they sit on an adult's lap. Discounted tickets are available for children between the ages of 2 and 11, but these discounts are limited to two children per one adult ticket. Any additional children would require a full priced adult ticket.

Do you need an ID to get on the bus?

Yes, Greyhound requires you to present an ID to an agent to be allowed to board the bus. Make sure you have identification issued by a government agency that meets the carrier’s requirements. Alternative IDs, such as a college ID, won’t work.

What are Greyhound's COVID-19 protocols?

Greyhound Bus is taking steps to ensure safe travel for passengers during the coronavirus outbreak.

As part of its COVID-19 policies:

  • Greyhound will waive change fees on tickets booked for travel through January 31, 2021.
  • The carrier has increased the amount of wipe-down cleaning of high-touch areas, including seats, arm rests, handles, windows and seat belts, throughout the day with a CDC recommended disinfectant.
  • Passengers are required to wear a face covering while onboard the bus.

Are there toilets on Greyhound buses?

Yes, there are bathrooms on Greyhound buses. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

Are meals or drinks offered during the trip?

Greyhound does not offer meals or beverages onboard. We recommend you bring a drink and some snacks for your trip. We also suggest packing a reusable water bottle with you to reduce your impact on the environment. However, note that most buses do not allow you to bring your own alcoholic drinks.

Do you have to print your Greyhound ticket?

Yes, Greyhound requires that all passengers have printed tickets to board the bus. When you book with Wanderu and activate your account, you will be able to easily find and download your tickets for most buses.

Does Greyhound offer any premium features like extra legroom or movies?

Greyhound goes the extra distance to deliver premium features to its customers.

Movies are provided during the bus trip to keep you entertained. Don’t forget to bring your favorite pair of headphones, as headphones are not always included on the bus. We recommend in-ear noise cancelling headphones due to their small size.

Board games are all the rage these days and Greyhound is keeping up with the latest trends by providing games you can play with your seat neighbors.
