About Newark Penn Station
Pennsylvania Station, commonly abbreviated to Penn Station, is a major public transportation hub in Newark, New Jersey. It is owned by NJ Transit, the regional transportation authority. Penn Station is both Newark’s train station and largest intercity bus station, so you can easily transfer between commuter rail, Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor services, bus companies including Greyhound Lines, and local transit buses.
Penn Station Newark first opened to regular rail services in 1935. A major makeover in 2007 restored many of the original art deco and neoclassical features, including decorative plasterwork, marble, elegant chandeliers, and window fittings in the main concourse. Astrology experts, look up to the globe chandeliers in Penn Station and see if you can spot your Zodiac sign!
Finally, a warning for those unfamiliar with the greater NYC area: as if “Newark” and “New York” weren’t confusing enough, be careful not to mix up Newark Penn Station with the Penn Station in New York City.
