Pros: An very inexpensive, spacious and comfortable way to get from San Antonio to Austin. Departure time was punctual arrival time as well. Conductors were very friendly, but boarding was a little formal. Cons: The boarding suggested to be there 30 min ahead of departure. Seems like a lot for a train. In a station with one entry track 15 or 10 min would seem plenty. . Tips: Wanderu offered tickets at half the price Amtrak itself was asking.

This 18th century fortress is one of five Spanish missions in the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, all of which are connected by a scenic hiking and biking trail. If history isn't your thing, the River Walk along the San Antonio River is a much livelier spot. This shaded path is lined with shops and restaurants, and you could spend an entire day strolling, shopping, and eating along the river.
