Liverpool is one of the highlights in Central New York. It is a suburb of Syracuse, located along the northern shore of Onondaga Lake. Oneida Lake is nearby, and the enormous Lake Ontario is under an hour away. Onondaga Lake is really Liverpool's claim to fame, though. Once known as one of the country's most polluted lakes, years of cleanup initiatives have made Onondaga Lake safe for swimming and fishing again.

Onondaga Lake Park is a lively 8-mile linear park along the lakefront that is popular with locals and visitors alike. Stroll along the lakeside trails, take the kids to Wegmans Playground, try your hand at shuffleboard, or take a kayak out onto the lake from several boat launches. The park is even home to the Salt Museum, dedicated to detailing the history of the Syracuse area and its relationship to the salt industry.

If you are a food lover, there are countless excellent restaurants in Liverpool. The Rio Grande and Santangelo's Restaurant are worth a visit, and Retreat Bar and Sharkey's are two excellent options for some local nightlife.

FlixBus provides intercity bus service to Liverpool from Binghamton, New York City, Niagara Falls, and even Boston. Additional transportation options depart from nearby Syracuse, including trains on a few Amtrak lines and flights from the Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
