West Windsor is a township (not big enough to be a city, too big to be a village) in Mercer County, New Jersey. The close-knit community gets plenty of traffic from golfers heading to the Mercer Oaks Golf Course, a massive area comprising 18 holes, 7,000 yards of course, and a par of 72. Just east of Mercer Oaks is Cranbury Golf, founded in 1964 with six par 3s.
But there’s plenty more to West Windsor than golfing. Duck Pond Park has tennis, basketball, and, of course, a duck pond. The West Windsor Community park offers 123 acres of trails, dog parks, and sports fields. Zaitz Woods Nature Preserve is the best spot in the city for easy trails and bird watching. Visit Van Nest Park to see the Martian Landing Site Marker, a 7.5 foot bronze marker noting where Martians first touched down on Earth (in H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds).
When you’re ready to head indoors, swing by the AR Workshop West Windsor for wine and wood painting classes. Food-wise, local favorites include Aljon's Pizza & Restaurant, Classico Tomato Pies, Seasons 52, and many more. Head to the Windsor Plaza outdoor mall for shopping and to grab a burger or some sushi.
The closest airport is the Greater Binghamton Airport, about 20 miles outside of town. OurBus provides service to the area, mostly servicing the route from Ithaca to West Windsor. Amtrak has extensive coverage in and around the town, with routes from Philadelphia, New York, Trenton, and Atlantic City.
