Amtrak California Zephyr

Pros: The scenic view car was wonderful and I enjoyed taking time to view the landscape as we moved through it. Cons: The speakers in our car did not work so we could not hear announcements being made. Employees were apparently aware of it but no one came back to our car to give us am update until I specifically asked someone to - unfortunately that wasn't until the end of the trip. Also, it would make it so much easier if there was a board by the tracks stating what train was at which track. I almost missed my train b/c I was train 5 but boarded at a different track. This was my first time traveling on a train. Tips: Lots of let room and storage for your bags.

Pros: The ability to Upgrade to a Roomette and having Two good meals on the Train. Cons: Train technology to insure punctual departure and arrival times with dependable Air Conditioning. Tips: Allow more time for Travel Days.

Pros: Comfortable accommodations and kind and friendly staff. The views were great and pace was nice compared to driving the I-70 grind. Cons: More signage about checking in, where to go to get on the train. Tips: Be flexible in your schedule because things can happen.

Pros: This was our first trip by train and overall, it was fun and enjoyable. The scenery was gorgeous. Cons: The train was filthy. Tray tables looked like petri dishes in a biohazard lab, bathrooms were disgusting and flat out gross, windows were dirty, floors and seats were dirty. Overall, the train itself was disgusting. Some of the train staff was rather surly and unhelpful while others were very friendly.
