Aberdeen is a small Maryland city between Baltimore and Philadelphia. The city developed around the U.S. Army Proving Ground established at the site in 1917, and to this day, Aberdeen is a vital center for military research and development. Baseball fans also know Aberdeen as the home of the Minor League IronBirds, who play in Ripken Stadium.

Greyhound serves a handful of routes to Aberdeen, but Amtrak provides most of the service to Aberdeen via train. Northeast Regional trains stop in Aberdeen multiple times each day on the routes between Boston and Virginia Beach. Train travel from Aberdeen makes it easy to spend a weekend in New York, Philadelphia, or Washington after just a quick ride. An imposing columned entry opens to an airy station with indoor seating, vending machines, and restrooms. Three Amtrak trains serve the iconic station: the Crescent from New Orleans to New York, the Piedmont from Charlotte to Raleigh, and the Carolinian from Charlotte to New York.
