Pros
I liked everything about my trip except the length (11h) : It was easy to book online and use my electronic ticket to board, it was more spacious and comfortable than a plane, there were scenic views and free wifi during most of the trip
Cons
Can the train go faster and hence reduce the length of the trip? Put air freshener in the restrooms and have doors that close automatically because I had to get up close the doors myself due to the bad odors
Tips
Bring food and something to do during the trip

Is there WiFi on a Amtrak Adirondack train?

Yes Amtrak Adirondack offers WiFi connection onboard their train trips. Though most trips with Amtrak Adirondack will have WiFi as advertised, some trips might not come equipped with WiFi, and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a film just to play it safe. Amtrak Adirondack WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favourite show.

You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbour might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power points, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power point USB converter that typically comes with most phones and tablets. Since Amtrak Adirondack might sometimes use replacement train vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

As back up, road warriors recommend taking a screenshot of your E Ticket. That way, you won’t be fumbling around in case your internet connection cuts out.
